  • Awareness Boundary

Remember it this wayKnown somewhere is not known where it matters.

In plain language

Someone or something knows what is happening, but that awareness cannot cross a boundary in a form another actor can use. The problem may be access, language, timing, authority, or missing context.

Why it matters

A system can appear uninformed even when the needed information exists inside it. Finding the boundary directs attention toward translation, access, authority, and action rather than collecting more data.

Example

A monitoring service detects repeated failures, but the operations team receives only a technical code that does not identify the affected customer workflow.

Common misconception

An awareness boundary is not simply missing information. The information exists somewhere, but it cannot support the party that needs to respond.
