Facilitator Notes: Opportunity Finder Lab
Labs reference: Facilitator Notes: Opportunity Finder Lab.
Status: Working facilitator notes for v0 lab placeholder.
Key Move
Prevent learners from jumping straight to automation.
When learners say “AI could automate this,” ask:
- What human need are we serving?
- What friction are we reducing?
- Who gains access, clarity, confidence, or time?
- What system would need to change around the tool?
- What should remain human-led?
Useful Distinctions
Encourage learners to distinguish between:
- A true AI opportunity
- A process problem
- A training problem
- A documentation problem
- A policy problem
- A tool or vendor problem
- A management problem
Sometimes the best answer will be: “AI might help, but only after we clean up the process.”
That is a valid outcome.
Discussion Prompts
- What human outcome are we trying to improve?
- What would happen if the AI output were wrong?
- What should a person still decide?
- What guardrail would make this safer?
- What part of the surrounding system needs to change?
