Fun for the Family — Historical Track Audit

Project operations source: Fun for the Family — Historical Track Audit.

This is historical evidence, preserved on 2026-09-09 from source checkpoint d1281fe. The matching Astro checkpoint is 485d066. The original outline below preserves planning inputs, not a second current curriculum inventory or a commitment to build every idea.

The current Track Guide and shared Track Map carry the approved composition: Family Learning Lab as signature, shared play and connection at the center, three developing routes, optional existing creative packages, and adult/caregiver support kept distinct from youth instruction.

Next Artifact Pass — Evidence and Unresolved Questions

  • Family Learning Lab remains Seed / Planned and Unassigned. Its source is a module seed despite “Lab” in its title. There is no assigned canonical Lab package, standalone Notebook, or mixed-age facilitator guide.
  • The signature remains primary to Creative AI Makerspace, with no related Track metadata. Its dependency on Prompting Is the Door, Not the Destination remains unchanged. The new Family signature assignment is a Track composition decision, not module reassignment or status promotion.
  • Shared family play is a descriptive missing-Lab candidate, not a settled title. The starter needs a guided Activity, fictional prompt/example packet, mixed-age roles, self-contained Notebook, and facilitator guide. Its shared AI and supplied-example participation versions both need design.
  • Bespoke Stories, Family Quiz Games, Recreating a Special Moment, and Remembering the Past Safely remain proposed module directions without source pages. Stories and games may become choices inside the signature instead of standalone modules.
  • The shared-interest route connects to the Curiosity and Study Time guides; it does not create a new family module or reclassify every source in those Tracks. A family-specific inquiry path with reviewed sources and age-appropriate roles is still missing.
  • Creative Latitude remains Draft / Drafting, owned by Mike. Its From Inspiration to Invention Lab remains Beta and already names Fun for the Family. The module prose still describes the primary lab as Draft in places; use the canonical lab’s Beta release label while preserving its open reviews. The lab includes a Notebook, fictional scenario, worksheets, learner and facilitator guides, and a paper/nonvisual route. Its 45–60-minute estimate is not family-pilot evidence. Image-rights, accessibility, learning-design, and counsel/legal review remain open before external or commercial use.
  • Make Something Weird: Creative AI Lab remains Sketch / Planned and owns Build a Tiny Virtual Museum, Alpha. The museum includes a Notebook and learner/facilitator materials but requires Blender and source/rights/credit planning. It names family among possible formats without establishing age-appropriate or safeguarding readiness. Its Track metadata remains Makerspace-only; the Family branch is a candidate handoff. Its no-AI route remains valid.
  • Shared support preserves AI Without the Hype and Safety as Draft / Drafting; Prompting, Before You Paste, and Conversational Privacy as Sketch / Planned. Conversational Privacy already names the Family Track; its dedicated family-use scenario README is only a future-content placeholder. Other selected support relationships remain candidates, not reciprocal metadata changes.
  • Relationships with Conversational AI remains Sketch / Planned and adult-focused, primary to AI Literacy and related to AI Readiness. It explicitly requires a separate evidence and safeguarding review for youth use. Treat it as adult/caregiver reference, not a mandatory family or child lesson.
  • Pause Before You Pay: Scam Awareness Basics remains Sketch / Planned, Unassigned, and in need of safety review. It is an optional adult/caregiver support candidate from AI Literacy. The original Scam Awareness for Families idea has no dedicated module or Lab; the existing source does not make that package complete.
  • Creative Show-and-Tell remains an original module idea, not a built source. Optional sharing and short demonstrations are participation choices in the new guide. The family AI-use agreement remains an activity idea, not a canonical Lab or a substitute for consent and safeguarding decisions.
  • The memory branch needs consent rules, emotionally sensitive facilitation, source and permission records, and a clear distinction between remembered facts, checked public history, uncertainty, and generated invention. Do not begin with private records or use AI to fill gaps as if it knows the family’s past.
  • Age range, meaningful mixed-age roles, operator control, tool access/suitability, consent, safeguarding, accessibility, and support/stopping options need review before a family pilot. No child account or disclosure of personal photos, stories, or records should be required. Current tool terms must be checked at actual use; this Track does not assert vendor-specific child access.
  • The Track remains Draft / Drafting and Unassigned. Demonstrations remain Coming Soon. Existing Alpha/Beta labels and source presence do not establish family-workshop readiness. Modules, Labs, statuses, ownership, and dependencies are unchanged by this pass.

Original Track Guide Snapshot

Fun for the Family — Original Outline

Status: Working track outline, not finished curriculum.

This track helps families use AI together for play, memory, creativity, learning, and connection. It can include games, bespoke stories, family history, special moments, old photos, and shared projects across generations.

The invitation is warm but careful. Family stories and memories matter. The track should help people create together while protecting privacy, consent, and dignity.

Audience: Families, parents, grandparents, caregivers, students, senior centers, and community groups.

Purpose: Create cross-generation learning experiences that build AI confidence through shared projects.

Likely Modules

Starter Lab Ideas

  • Create a family trivia quiz from volunteered non-sensitive facts.
  • Write a story together with age-appropriate roles.
  • Recreate public world context around a date without exposing private records.
  • Create a family AI-use agreement.
  • Rewrite family-history prompts so they use volunteered, non-sensitive, and less identifying details.
  • Discuss whether a chatbot is acting as a tool, tutor, companion, advisor, or substitute for human support.
