Facilitator-Safe Task Choices
Source note for AI Without the Hype: Facilitator-Safe Task Choices.
Use only fictional, public, sanitized, or ordinary low-risk material. Each choice should work for typing, partnering, observation, or a printed transcript. This is a facilitator selection aid, not a second learner activity.
Canonical Maple Park trail
For the module’s shared demonstration, use the canonical materials in A Safe First Try:
- Fictional Maple Park source and bounded request
- Completed Maple Park model
- Choose the completed Maple Park example from the Gallery for no-tool discussion.
The model makes one point especially clear: an organized output can still leave important questions unanswered. Keep the three human checks in view: what was useful, what needs checking, and what remains human-owned.
Safe task choices
- Turn a fictional event notice into a checklist.
- Create a 20-minute plan for a low-risk hobby, such as sketching a coffee mug or practicing basic chords, without personal performance data.
- Organize a fictional packing list into categories without adding items.
- Turn a facilitator-provided passage into five review questions.
- Brainstorm names for a fictional neighborhood garden club, then choose names that fit a stated tone.
- Rewrite a short fictional notice in plainer language without changing its meaning.
- Compare two fictional event schedules and list the differences.
- Ask for interview practice about a low-risk hobby without including identifying information.
Not for this first activity
Do not use symptoms, diagnosis, medication, crisis support, legal disputes, contracts, investments, taxes, debt, account information, employment records, client or household records, credentials, security questions, access codes, immediate safety decisions, private information about another person, confidential work product, or any urgent high-consequence decision.
Choose with care
Before using a task, confirm that it works without a paid account, avoids personal data and high-stakes advice, produces something inspectable, leaves room for human judgment, uses plain language, and avoids unnecessary cultural assumptions.
