Scenario cards: Stay, Steer, or Start Over
Labs reference: Scenario cards: Stay, Steer, or Start Over.
Use one of these when a learner does not want to use a live chat tool or a personal task. The cards are deliberately low-risk and illustrative.
Community workshop
Original goal: Draft a short invitation to a free neighborhood learning session.
Imperfect answer: The chatbot writes a polished invitation that assumes the event is a paid technical training, promises attendees a certificate, and tells them to bring a laptop.
Possible moves: Correct the event type and promises; ask what the invitation assumes about access; decide whether the thread is still useful.
Household plan
Original goal: Make a loose weekend plan for a household with errands and a shared meal.
Imperfect answer: The chatbot creates an hour-by-hour schedule, adds a costly outing, and treats every task as equally urgent.
Possible moves: Steer toward a flexible priority list; ask which assumption would make the plan fail; decide whether to continue or summarize the useful parts.
Volunteer message
Original goal: Write a warm thank-you note to volunteers after a community clean-up.
Imperfect answer: The chatbot adds names, attendance totals, and a promise about a future event that the organizer has not confirmed.
Possible moves: Remove unsupported details; challenge the promise; decide whether a focused revision is enough or the thread should stop.
