Keynote proof of concept: Forty-Five Seconds to Make It Clear

Labs reference: Keynote proof of concept: Forty-Five Seconds to Make It Clear.

This is a local production proof, not a new canonical learner artifact. It tests whether an editable Keynote deck can carry the Learning Lab visual language, timed narration, and an eventual local video export without a YouTube workflow.

What the proof reuses

  • the existing eight authored instruction cards in ../cards/;
  • the existing approved synthetic narration source in ../narration.mp3 and its editable script;
  • the existing storyboard, captions, and source-footage record.

No private conversation, third-party image, new AI-generated claim, or external embed is added for this proof.

Visual direction

  • Canvas: 16:9 widescreen.
  • Background: warm near-white paper (#f8fafc).
  • Type: Charter or Georgia for headings; Inter or a system sans-serif for supporting copy.
  • Palette: deep ink (#17202a), Learning Lab teal (#126a6f), muted sky (#e0f7f5), pollen (#d19a21), and clay/coral (#8b5a2b).
  • Motion: restrained dissolve or move-in builds only; the idea should lead, not the animation.

What to test in Keynote

  1. Open forty-five-seconds-keynote-poc.key in Keynote and play the deck with the narration clips.
  2. Check that the title, source cards, audio, and timing still read clearly at normal presentation size.
  3. Record a slideshow only if the narration needs a Keynote-native timing track; preserve the original clips and script.
  4. Export a local movie for review only. Do not treat that export as a release, upload it, or replace the canonical written activity.

Review questions

  • Does the visual system feel like the Learning Lab rather than a generic video template?
  • Does the narration make the next action clearer than the written lab alone?
  • Does Keynote preserve timing and audio reliably enough to be a viable production step?
  • Can we retain a readable transcript and source package alongside any future export?
