Before publishing, check for:

  • faces
  • logos
  • uniforms
  • store interiors
  • products
  • packaging
  • vehicles
  • signs
  • credentials
  • promotional language
  • locations
  • employee identities
  • customer identities
  • badges
  • addresses
  • license plates
  • reflections
  • background documents
  • screens
  • schedules
  • filenames
  • embedded metadata
  • captions
  • implied relationships

Higher-Consequence Review

  • Identify what must not be disclosed.
  • Work from a copy rather than the only source file.
  • Remove the information using an appropriate method.
  • Create the intended distributable format without unnecessary layers, metadata, or source material.
  • Inspect the visible image, metadata, layers, and resulting file independently.
  • Use a second human reviewer when consequences are meaningful.

Exporting or flattening may remove some hidden information. Neither action proves that sensitive material has been securely removed.
