Pie Chart

Use Mermaid pie when you need a quick proportional snapshot of categories.

Basic template

pie
    title Example
    "A" : 40
    "B" : 60

Core syntax

• Start with pie
• Optionally add title
• Add slices with "Label" : value
• Use showData if you want values displayed on slices

Common example

pie showData
    title Time Spent This Week
    "Writing" : 10
    "Meetings" : 6
    "Debugging" : 8
    "Planning" : 4

Good for

• High-level proportions
• Simple category breakdowns
• Quick presentation visuals

Watch for

• Pie charts are weak when categories are close in size
• Use an XY chart when exact comparisons matter more than proportions
